Sailing south from St Maarten, we stopped in Nevis in search of the infamous wreck of the Christena. In 1970, this inter island ferry was travelling from Nevis to St Kitts when it capsized. Most passengers were on their way home after a long weekend of Carnival festivities. With very few passengers capable of swimming, there was a death toll of 120. Diving on the wreck is like visiting a graveyard, with skulls scattered throughout the wreck. Many of the goods on board the ferry are still there, including a motorcycle, standing on the deck.
