The Cayman Islands has some of the most exceptional coral formations in the Caribbean. But this wreck, not more than 200 feet away from one such reef has remained devoid of coral growth. This is the wreck of a 300-foot Russian destroyer, sunk in 1996. Much of the interior looks like a bombed out shelter. Debris has been spread out, but not incorporated into the natural landscape. However the gun turrets have been adorned by a small bouquet of yellow sponges and green turtles, barracudas, hogfish and parrotfish have made this wrecked carcass their home.
