HERE'S HOW IT ALL STARTED
• In 1995, Dominique Serafini created an original series of paintings, featuring the most spectacular wrecks he had seen in his travels. Wrecks from the South of France, the Red Sea, Martinique, Grenada, Cayman Brac, Curacao, Aruba and Bonaire were featured in his paintings. In Bonaire he fell in love with the wreck of the Windjammer, and from which the name DREAMWRECKS comes.
• In 2000, Dominique Serafini and Catherine Salisbury, both underwater explorers and artists teamed up their painting and photo skills to further DREAMWRECKS. Their mission was to capture the most spectacular shipwrecks and marine life of the world in painting and photography.
• In 2002, Dominique and Catherine published the book DREAMWRECKS - The Best Shipwrecks of Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao, a combination of shipwrecks stories, paintings and photos from the region. Wrecks featured in the book include Bonaire’s Windjammer, Hilma Hooker, Aruba’s Antilla, Curacao’s Superior Producer as well as a special chapter featuring the wrecks of the windward side of the islands.
• In 2006, DREAMWRECKS become a television series. Produced by John Wesley Chisholm of Arcadia Entertainment in Halifax, Nova Scotia, 26 episodes were made, featuring Dominique and Cathy’s favorite wrecks in the Caribbean and Florida.
• Dominique and Catherine and their wrecks have been featured in other television shows including Eye On Bonaire with Dos Winkel by EMS Films in Holland, J’ai Regarde le Windjammer by Idee Originale in France, Bords de Mer by Sardi Productions in Martinique, Destroyer for Peace by Jean-Michel Cousteau, Les esclaves de l’epave by Gedeon Productions in France, Bulles sous l’eau by Segment to name a few.
• Over the last seven years, Dominique and Catherine have done numerous gallery and museum exhibits. Catherine’s photography is on exhibit at Cinnamon Gallery in Bonaire through till March 31, 2007. In September 2007, her work will be shown at Anderson Photo Gallery in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia.
